The stereo system source material is controlled by a Dell Inspiron Mini net book computer. iTunes is used for the music server and an external multi-media drive is used to play CDís. The computer is connected to an external digital to analog converter (DAC) with an optical universal serial bus (USB) cable to isolate the computer power supply from the DAC. The DAC was built from DDDAC 1543MK2 circuit boards designed by Doede Douma.
The amplifiers are comprised of scratch built tube amplifiers designed by Bruce Rozenbilt consisting of the Grounded Grid Pre Amp and the Beast OTL (output transformerless) mono block power amps (160 watt).
The frequency spectrum is split at the pre amp with two outputs, a 80 Hz high pass output and a full range output. The high pass output drives the Beasts and the Borealis and the full range output drives the sub utilizing the variable low pass filter in the subís amp.
The speakers are a three way system consisting of a left and right channel and a powered sub woofer. The left and right channels are two way full range speakers built from the North Creek Music Systems Borealis Kit designed by George Short. Theyíre made up with a pair of Scanspeak Revelator D2905/9900 tweeters and a pair of ScanSpeak 18W/8546 (kevlar cone) woofers. The sub woofer is a 110 Watt Paradigm PS 800.
The 120 VAC power is conditioned by a balanced power supply based on the Piltron 2000 VA toroidal power transformer 875-XO-02 which features a electrostatic screen. All components are protected with a 20 amp Sola / Hevi-Duty STV25K surge protctor
